Serra Pamies Laboratories
The history of Serra Pamies Laboratories began in 1885 when the company was founded by the notable Reus pharmacist and philanthropist, Antonio Serra Pamies (Valls, 1859 – Reus, 1929).
At the outset, the company focused its activities on producing and manufacturing medicinal plant extracts. In the 1920s, it achieved the right to produce aspirin® in Spain, among other notable licences.
In 1973, the Jofré family acquired ownership and gave the company a new lease of life. The team, led by Josep María Jofré Duch (Reus, 1932-2011), faced the enormous challenges in the pharmaceutical industry at the end of the 20th century.
In 1986, new laboratories and headquarters were opened and in 2001 the group constructed a new GMP production plant, which is a pioneer in applying new, quality technologies to the production process.
In 1982, Serra Pamies began producing Pilfood® and it soon became a point of reference in the Spanish and international markets. Later, it acquired the brand and product rights to distribute it worldwide.
Today, Pilfood® continues to be a product that enjoys extensive international recognition and is a leader in Spain — one of the most competitive markets in Europe in the hair and nail care sector.
